Trust Your Insticts

Do you know any homeschool moms that just assume everyone should use a particular curriculum because it's "the best"? Why wouldn't you use "the best"? Homeschoolers tend to be an over-confident lot. Some assume that the best curriculum is for everyone. They may not take into account that you have a special-needs child, a child with an auditory learning style, or that you have 10 kids to school instead of 2.

Don't fall for this kind of attitude.

Asking for other people's opinion is great, especially if it is a friend that knows you, your goals, and your children really well. I have been fortunate to have friends let me know what works for them and it often helps me decide if it might work for us as well. I love recommendations, but I take them just as that - a recommendation. My homeschool looks like no one else's exactly. Yours shouldn't either. Everyones needs are different and you know your children better then any one else. Go with your instincts!
