Make A Firefly

The beautiful summer nights are so wonderful to spend time in. When you are gathered with friends and family and nightfall is just beginning, the following craft will give your kids some great fun and memories. Our friend's son was playing with one on the 4th of July just as we were beginning to shoot off the fireworks and I was enthralled with it, and felt I just had to share. Silly me didn't take any pictures of it, but I'll explain as best I can, and hopefully you will get a great project from it.

Water Bottle Firefly

You will need:

* Water Bottle

*Construction Paper

* Pipe Cleaners

* Glow Stick

First you remove the wrapper of a water bottle and make sure it is completely dried out. Make sure to keep the lid.

Then cut out some wings using construction paper. Have the children decorate them with paint or glitter, let them use their imagination. Tape these on to one side of the water bottle. Take some pipe cleaners and attach them as antenna.

Take the glow stick (cheaply purchased in packages at the dollar store) activate it and put it inside the water bottle and put the lid on it.

Voila. A Firefly! Your kids will love running around with it.
